Tight skirt art page 8

This is the eighth page devoted to "tight skirt art": drawings of tight-skirted outfits, and other pictures which can't really be classified in the ordinary way. This page was invented at the suggestion of supporter RJS to give a home to the first of the pictures on Art page 1: too good not to use, but not really suitable for any page I had already. Pictures go on this page if they don't fit anywhere else, so this is their sole home. Each picture will have a caption explaining it as best I can.

JB, whose illustrated account of a 1950s fashion show is on my text page, sent me these delightful images which he had painted himself. The first is based on a character in the film Guys and Dolls but could very well be a sketch from a 1950s fashion magazine. The next image is of Cyd Charisse shaking, as they would say today, her booty. Then follows a picture based on a lady that he saw on board a ship in Cherbourg while he was on holiday, coming down some steps. Then there is a picture inspired by Sophia Loren. The following image, a luminous pastel sketch on dark paper, represents Jean Kent in the Edwardian-set film Trottie True, which I have also heard complimented for the authentic tightness of its leading ladies' corsets. After that follows a delightful double image of a woman dancing with elegant abandon in a long, tight red gown with a flounce. Of her the artist says it is "a painting that I made from the film Silk Stockings starring Fred Astaire and the gogeous Cyd Charisse. The lady illustrated is not Cyd, but one of the ladies in the party organised by Fred to entertain the Russian delegates. He instigates an impromptu dance of the Cha-Cha. I was particulary struck by the lovely red ballgown worn by this lady, one of the dancers whom I have named Charlotte, since she was not named in the credits." The image after that in dark green and orange-red shows Marilyn Monroe at the start of her career in the film O'Henry's Full House. After that we see a double image representing two views of " Dawn Adams, a well built British film star of the early 60's. She was starring as a lady of pleasure in The Treasure of San Theresa, a mediocre drama film. I one scene she wore a silken dress that clung to her shapely figure. There was another where she wore a very flattering pencil skirt - she has lovely hips!" Following her is an amply curvaceous lady in a tight green top and a tighter red skirt. JB tells me that this picture is "a water colour of the starlet Anna Gilchrist who appeared as a housemaid in the Adam Faith film of 1961: "What a Whopper". A silly film, but she certainly had a lovely bottom." Following that is a double image of actress Julia Arnall from the film Mark of the Phoenix in 1957, wearing a tight dark blue-green suit with a belted waist. The artist says that this is from "the only scene where she wears a tight skirt, walking into a garage carrying her handbag under her left arm. The left view shows the allure of the tight skirt, stretching across her thighs as she walks, revealing the seductive curve of her posterior. Her belt pulls in the waist of her jacket, forming a peplum to emphasise her slim waist, contrasting with her hips and drawing the eyes to her curvaceous rear. In the right view, the classic beauty of the long tight skirt is manifest, revealing the lovely curves of the feminine thighs, forming those creases across the stretching skirt." After that follows a single picture with two views of one of the characters in the film Romance on the High Seas. She is "a starlet by the name of Leslie Brooks who played the part of a snooty secretary in a very tight fitting jacket and clinging skirt. She was very slim, but her as she turned away from the camera her assets were beautifully revealed." Next, in a yellow fishtail dress, is a painting of Elizabeth Shue as she appeared in the 1954 film Town on Trial at a dance in a daring tight skirt. I am sorry to say that after that I began to lose track of which picture was of whom, because I was updating less often, but perhaps if you go to Joe B's own page you will find the relevant information there! The round-bottomed young lady drawn in sepia climbing a steep flight of steps in a tight suit, though, is Barbara Eden from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Belinda Lee is shown five pictures further on, with a neat hat, modelling a long-sleeved, long-skirted, skin-tight gown from a Norman Wisdom film in which she played the love interest.

Joe B now has his own gallery for his art, called "Back Beauty"

Contributor Victor sent me the first of these images in one of his donations. I was delighted with it and wrote to the address given on the image to find out if there was a page displaying them somewhere. "Medusa" wrote back pointing at her own page, now deceased, which displayed a set of sexy tight-skirted paintings as well as other things, and saying kindly "Feel free to publish any of my pictures." I have taken advantage of this by downloading all the ones I could find with tight skirts to post them here!
